Two European Commissioners will meet the PIP beneficiaries in Kenya
On 7th April the PIP-Coleacp team will have the honour of hosting a visit by European Commissioners Androulla Vassiliou (Commissioner for Health) and Louis Michel (Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid) in Kenya.
Together with FPEAK, KEPHIS, and the National Task Force on Horticulture, PIP will organise a tour of facilities at Nairobi Airport and an evening cocktail.
Food safety training in Ethiopia
An Ethiopian horticultural company, whose core business is growing, processing and exporting fresh herbs to the EU market applied for support from the PIP for among other things the installation of the BRC quality system in its pack house.
A BRC implementation training was recently organized within this company. The training concerned 9 people from middle management staff, took 13 days and was given by a regional expert trained by PIP.
Happy new year!

Sustainability is progressively reaching the top of the agenda of an increasing number of consumers
PIP Partners with ITC and FPEAK with a Workshop on Carbon and Water Management
Labels showing carbon-dioxide emissions associated with making and transporting products first appeared in 2007 in Britain. Since this time the use of carbon labels, though still not mainstream, has increased; in Britain, for example, in 2010 sales of carbon labeled products exceeded total sales of organic and fair trade products. The concept of footprinting is now gaining ground in other areas where production and consumption have an impact on sustainability and the environment, water footprinting in particular.
