COLEACP defends ACP producers on the set of Vox Africa

This week, the television programme "Vice Versa" is dedicated to the Rio + 20 Summit. The show will look at questions including: how to define sustainable development? How to reconcile economic growth with environmental protection? What can we expect from this summit in terms of political commitments?

A representative of COLEACP took part in the debate with experts from the European Commission and the CIDSE (International Alliance of Catholic Development Agencies). "Buy local" campaigns in the EU put the ACP fresh fruit and vegetable export sector unfairly at risk, despite being recognised as a key driver of development and poverty alleviation in developing countries. The majority of small-scale farmers, producers and exporters are conscious and pro-actively working towards sustainable agriculture. Support over time coupled with the sensitization of European public opinion will enable the sector to fully realize its potential and enhance the effectiveness of these ambitions.

The show will air this Thursday, June 21 at 20:30 GMT in Africa and 21:00 Paris time in Europe on Vox Africa.
