The underlying objective of the award is to emphasize the importance of successful communication, and the impact and results of communication activities in the development sector. Communication plays a vital role in raising public awareness on development issues and is crucial to send word on what can be achieved in practice. This award is also meant to encourage other EU funded projects to develop and improve their communication activities.

50 projects were submitted in 6 categories: ACP (PIP’s category), Asia, ENPI, Latin America, thematic, or linked to HQ/AIDCO internal organisation. The best two projects per category were preselected by a committee made up of members representing all directorates. The selection criteria were based on the clearly demonstrated impact of the project and the quality and results of its communication activities. Everyone at AIDCO Headquarters or in Delegations were then able to cast their vote for their favourite project.
PIP: SILVER Medallist
Ms P. Larbouret, Programme Manager for the PIP at Aidco C4, receiving the PIP Award.
Based on communication plans, press releases, generated media coverage, the website, written publications, and other available multimedia material (PIP films, photos, presentations,…), PIP was nominated as one of the best three projects. Finally, during the AIDCO annual seminar, with around 40% of the votes, PIP received the silver medal. It came a close second to a joint EU -UNICEF project that works with the government to help Uzbekistan's hospitals and health workers attain modern international standards in maternal and postnatal care.
This award confirms once more the quality of the work of the PIP Team.
