Progress in the GFSI-GLOBALGAP joint approach
On 4th February an announcement was made at Fruit Logistica and at the CIES International Food Safety Conference in Barcelona, that GFSI and GLOBALGAP were developing a joint approach to benchmarking for farm assurance scheme owners.
To date the activities of GSFI have focused mainly post-farm gate, but this latest initiative addresses the framework for benchmarking of farm assurance food safety schemes. On the 28th May, the first results of this partnership were made public. An announcement was made that GFSI have now formally recognised the alignment of the GLOBALGAP food safety elements (Fruit and Vegetable Scope) with the GFSI Guidance Document Version 5.
PIP will continue to monitor closely the development of this joint approach in order to assess the benefits for ACP suppliers.
